See For Yourself

If you have banking or financial questions, or just want to know more about a product or service, try using our financial calculators, product demos or other tools to quickly and easily get the information and answers that you need. You can calculate education funding, estate planning, retirement planning and more. And our Education Center offers a number of online video presentations on things like online banking, online bill pay, guarding against identity theft, and others.

Keep in Touch

Some see increased technology as an escape from person-to-person contact, but we see it as a better way to enhance that contact. Our new Online Chat feature allows customers to chat live with a Southern Community banker about any banking-related issues or questions. Simply click to enter the chat room, and you'll be in a secure area where you can get the answers you need quickly and directly.

Safety First

We value your trust, so our new site is equipped with the best security available to keep your money and information safe. And new upcoming e-mail features will allow sensitive financial documents and information to be shared between bankers and customers in a fully encrypted, 100% secure setting. Rest assured that you, and your money, are safe with
Southern Community.

Of course, some things haven't changed. One is our web address. You can still find us at www.smallenoughtocare.com. Another is our commitment to service and customer satisfaction. Let us know what you think of our new site - we want your feedback. We encourage you to visit and experience Small Enough to Care 2.0 for yourself - we think it's the version you've been waiting for!

Southern Community
in the Community

Doing our part to support those in our community who go the extra mile, Sourthern Community has recently been involved in two events that we would like to share:

Southern Community
Takes Great Strides
Against Cystic Fibrosis

Southern Community team members went the extra mile this year at the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk on Saturday, April 26. The event included food, fun, music and a 10K walk. The Southern Community team, known as "Walking for Wells," included 50 dedicated walkers and raised over $40,000 for research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

The walk was a huge success, becoming the largest walk the Forsyth County Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has ever had. Over 500 people participated, and approximately $150,000 was raised, surpassing the goal of $100,000.

The Great Strides Walk continues to be the Foundation's largest national fund-raising event. Thousands of friends, family and co-workers participate each year to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Special thanks to all of the Southern Community participants for contributing to the success of this event!

Welcome to Mad City!

To promote economic literacy among the youth of America and our community, Southern Community recently sponsored "Mad City Money," an event at Asheville High School in Asheville, NC. The event was conducted by the OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling Center and the Asheville High School Business Alliance.

The event simulated a community called "Mad City," where students were given an occupation, family situation, income level and various financial obligations. Event leaders represented different merchants throughout the community, such as the Credit Union, Mad City Mall, even "Fun Stuff" and Unexpected Expenses.

Students were given the opportunity to learn about handling finances first and rather than through textbooks and

lectures. "We're hoping that by promoting financial literacy in a fun way and helping students learn to interact with their money and their budget, they can learn the steps to plan, set goals and use their money wisely," says OnTrack representative Becky Brown.

According to Southern Community Vice President and Commercial Banker Brad Blackburn, "Money makes the world go around, and using it wisely is very important. I've seen too many people who didn't use it correctly, and ended up with problems."

Southern Community is proud to support financial literacy, particularly in today's challenging economic environment. Special thanks to all who participated in this exciting event!
